Webinar: Driving Urban Transitions

When we talk about "smart cities" or "green mobility," we often imagine sleek electric buses and high-tech bike lanes. But for a parent maneuvering a cargo bike, an elderly resident navigating a steep curb, or a woman traveling alone at night, the "smart" city often feels remarkably inaccessible.

Urban transition isn't just about moving vehicles; it’s about moving people—all of them.

The equity gap in modern transit

For too long, urban planning has relied on data that ignores "neglected social groups." If our mobility policies don't account for gender-specific travel patterns or the unique spatial needs of families, we aren't actually building a future; we're just reinforcing the past.

On 24 March, the Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) Partnership is pulling back the curtain on four groundbreaking research projects that tackle these exact challenges.

Four projects, one goal: Inclusive mobility

Our upcoming Knowledge Hub Webinar will showcase insights from experts who are redefining what accessibility looks like:

  • Fair Mobility: Looking at how we can create justice in our transport systems.
  • AccessCity4All: Deep-diving into how older people and families actually perceive the walkability of their neighborhoods.
  • MARLENE: Examining the intersection of gender and travel patterns to create safer, more intuitive transit.
  • Share4Equity: Exploring how shared mobility (like e-scooters and bike shares) can be a tool for inclusion rather than a luxury for a few.

Why you should join this webinar

Whether you are a city official, an urban researcher, or a passionate community advocate, this webinar offers a first look at data-driven results that can be applied to cities right now.

The speakers aren't just discussing theories; they are creating bottom-up impact in sister projects to our very own CONIFER.  They’re sharing the strategies needed to address spatial contexts that have been neglected for too long.
