Celebrating ability diversity

At CollectiveUP, we believe that talent knows no boundaries, and our latest work as a partner in the Skills Plus 3.0 project is a testament to that belief. This European initiative is dedicated to showcasing skills and boosting employability for individuals with a labor disability through the power of competition.

We are thrilled to share that the national competitions have officially begun across Europe, and the results are nothing short of inspiring. From urban gardens to digital innovation, participants are proving that with the right support, every individual can shine.

Success in the field: National skills competitions

The spirit of inclusion has been felt in every corner of the project so far. Each country has tailored its competitions to ensure every participant can perform at their best:

  • Czechia: On November 5, 2025, the competition kicked off with a focus on ICT and Green Jobs. Designed specifically for hearing-impaired participants, the event used tailored guidance and peer support from "buddies" to ensure clear communication and success.
  • The Netherlands: On November 12, 2025, participants engaged in practical assignments in Cooking, Housekeeping, and Green Jobs. The day was a celebration of craftsmanship, highlighting the immense growth possible when people are given meaningful opportunities.
  • Italy: In Palermo on December 6, 2025, the challenge was to design and build a sustainable urban garden. Teams used natural materials and rainwater solutions, but the true success was found in the teamwork and mutual trust developed during the task.
  • Spain: Between September and October 2025, competitions in Cooking and ICT took place in Madrid and Ibiza. These events were highly inclusive, utilizing plain language instructions and visual support to help participants gain confidence and develop new skills.

More than just a competition

The Skills Plus 3.0 project is about more than winning a medal; it is about changing the narrative around labor disabilities. By providing real-world challenges in a practice-oriented environment, we are helping participants build the self-esteem and technical skills necessary for the modern workforce.

These competitions show that inclusion is achieved through collaboration and shared responsibility. When we celebrate individual abilities and provide accessible adaptations, we create a stronger, more diverse professional community.

"The positive atmosphere and strong engagement made the event a valuable experience for all involved."
