Announcing "Zara & the Glowing Realm": Help us shape the future!
At CollectiveUP, we are proud to unveil the second version of our new storybook (first shareble edition!), "Zara & the Glowing Realm". This adventure is designed for every child aged 7 to 12 who lives, learns, and plays in our increasingly digital world.
An adventure with a purpose
Journey to the Glowing Realm, a place where Digitown meets the Digital Forest. Follow our heroes—Zara, Byte the robot, Luna the fox, Spark the aurora-pixie, and the wise Professor Wibble—as they protect the Great Charter Tree from the sneaky Grumble the Shadow.
Discover the 12 digital rights
Through their adventures, the heroes help children understand the 12 digital rights we have identified through extensive research and collaboration with international standards like the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the EU Better Internet for Kids Strategy:
- Digital Access: The right to go online for learning, and the right NOT to be forced online.
- Right to Disconnect: The power to switch off without being tricked into staying.
- Privacy: Your data belongs to you; no secret collection without asking.
- Right to Be Forgotten: The right to have old photos, posts, and data deleted.
- Protection from Harm: The right to be safe from cyberbullying and harmful content.
- Participation: The right for children to be heard in decisions about the digital world.
- Ethical AI: AI must be fair, transparent, and always have human oversight.
- Freedom from Manipulation: No sneaky "dark patterns" or addictive "nudge" tricks.
- Play Without Paying: No "pay to win" traps or predatory loot boxes.
- Freedom of Thought: Your mind and moods are yours; neuro-tech must respect your inner world.
- Freedom of Expression & Information: The right to speak, learn, and share safely and truthfully.
- Digital Inclusion: An internet that welcomes every child, regardless of ability, language, or location.
Interactive learning for young rangers
The book concludes with "Activity Pages for Young Rangers," including a Digital Rights Passport, a "Data Detective" hunt, and a guide for safely reporting online harm.
