CHARGE

CHARGE (name of the project: Cultural Heritage as a Driver of Green and Digital Transformation for Inclusive Societies) is an EIT Culture & Creativity Strategic Topic Group focused on Cultural Heritage. The project brings together a European cultural heritage community to connect existing initiatives, map expertise and identify shared priorities for the sector’s green, digital and social transitions. Its work is structured around three cross-cutting pillars — Green, Digital and Social — with a focus on coordination, knowledge exchange, pilot concepts and future implementation pathways.

Project impact

CHARGE aims to establish a strategic foundation for future large-scale implementation in the cultural heritage and creative sectors. Through mapping, co-creation, knowledge exchange and policy dialogue, the project will develop practical roadmaps, guidance, pilot concepts and recommendations addressing green transition, digital heritage and social participation. Its intended impact includes stronger connections between cultural heritage and innovation ecosystems, greater awareness of green and digital opportunities, and a common basis for future policy dialogue, investment and collaboration.

Objectives

  • Identify pathways for climate-fit and circular cultural heritage.

  • Strengthen digital heritage, data interoperability, digital preservation and emerging technologies.

  • Develop more inclusive participation, skills and entrepreneurship within the cultural heritage ecosystem.

  • Connect European initiatives and infrastructures while identifying synergies, funding pathways and opportunities for future collaboration and investment.
