Fostering Artificial Intelligence at Schools

In the era of the 4th industrial revolution, Artificial Intelligence (AI) stands as a pivotal force transforming economies and reshaping work dynamics. The FAIaS project recognizes the imperative need for an education system that equips youth with the skills to comprehend, engage with, and even contribute to AI-driven technologies. FAIaS takes an interdisciplinary and inclusive approach, acknowledging AI's profound impact on various facets of life beyond its technological aspects.

Project Impact 

FAIaS strives to provide a comprehensive grasp of AI that extends beyond technical facets. By encouraging interdisciplinary learning and critical thinking, it aims to create a holistic AI education experience. This initiative equips educators with resources designed to seamlessly infuse AI education across various subjects, enriching the learning journey for students from diverse disciplines. FAIaS is dedicated to ensuring inclusivity and accessibility, actively working to ensure that AI education reaches minority and underprivileged groups, thus promoting equal opportunities for all.

One of the results of this project can be found below. It contains 2 handbooks : Guidelines for teachers in formal education and an inclusion guide for (non-formal) educators in the context of Artificial Intelligence education. These handbooks provide a rich toolkit filled with practical strategies, adaptable lesson plans, and engaging activities while fostering a passion for learning beyond traditional boundaries.

Objectives

  • Augment the understanding of AI technologies and their societal impact among high school students.
     
  • Introduce diverse perspectives on AI, covering ethical, philosophical, economic, legal, and historical aspects to provide a holistic education on the subject.
     
  • Provide comprehensive online and offline tools and guidelines to educators across subjects, facilitating the integration of AI-related content into their courses. 
  • Empower teachers to deliver AI education effectively, fostering multidisciplinary learning experiences. 
  • Focus on non-formal education initiatives to improve AI knowledge among minorities and underprivileged groups in society. 
  • Promote inclusivity by ensuring access to AI education for all, regardless of background or socio-economic status. 
  • Develop an online, interactive tool designed for both pupils and teachers to experiment with AI technologies.
  • Enable hands-on learning experiences, encouraging exploration and understanding of AI principles in a user-friendly environment.
