As part of the DIGISET project, social economy organisations and civil society actors joined the online workshop “Media Innovation for Civil Society Revenue”, an intensive, hands-on session on how branding, communication and outreach can drive measurable growth in donations, memberships and social enterprise sales.

The session was led by Tom Greenwood, a media strategist with a background in media and advertising. He has led sales, membership and media impact projects for clients including global brands, the United Nations, international NGOs and major news organisations. His work uses media innovation to build quantifiable increases in engagement, from organic social media growth to wider mainstream support for campaigns on climate, democratic engagement and human rights.

The workshop was built around live case study development. Together with participants, Tom Greenwood developed two concrete case studies from the ground up, one focused on donations and one on social enterprise sales, moving step by step from core objectives to strategic solutions. Participants applied the strategic concepts from both cases to their own organisations’ communication and fundraising throughout the session, and received direct expert feedback on aligning their media strategy with specific funding and revenue objectives.

By connecting communication practice directly to revenue goals, the workshop reinforced DIGISET’s mission of strengthening the digital capacity, resilience and long-term financial sustainability of the social economy across Europe.
